Data Center Operations Administrator
CurrentData Center Operations Administrator responsible for maintaining operations within the Data Center for Dreamhost. Responsibilities include infrastructure deployment, monitoring system health, and making repairs to servers in a Linux-based environment as well as hands-on with hardware when necessary. Repairing servers from identification and diagnosis of issues to resolution, which includes cable tracing/swapping, hardware replacements, network configuration and more. Hardware replacements include memory, processors, PCI/e cards, drives, power supply units and more. 24/7 availability when on-call to respond to alerts outside of business hours that require escalation and resolving those issues accordingly. Also responsible for the acquisition and disposition of assets; tracking and inventorying incoming and outgoing assets as well as the deployment of these assets. Deployment includes racking, cabling, and configuring networking as well as re/imaging servers with the Ubuntu Operating System using OpenStack and Ansible. Creating and implementing new policies and procedures that are now standard practice.
