I have most recently been acting as interim Director Public Health for Peterborough City Council prior to my retirement in November 2013. During this period I have overseen the transfer of public health to the City Council leading and managing all aspects as an executive director of the Council. Previously, as Associate Director of Public Health for NHS Peterborough I led on Inequalities in Health, Healthy Lifestyles and associated health improvement programmes, Sexual Health, priorities within Peterborough's Single Delivery Plan, Equality and Diversity, the health of BME and other Marginalised Groups and Drug and Alcohol Misuse. I have worked in the field of public health/health promotion for 26 years. Before moving to Peterborough in 2003, I was Head of the Specialist Health Promotion Service for East and Central Cheshire, and before that Assistant Director of Health Promotion for Bexley and Greenwich. Since my retirement I have been asked to provide business development and public health expertise to a new project called Inspire Peterborough. The aim of this project is to increase availability and access to sporting and recreational activities for disabled people, their families and carers.
