I trained as an RGN at Leeds General Infirmary in 1976 and once qualified moved to be a staff nurse on the ophthalmic unit at Harrogate General Hospital.I have had several positions within the NHS including district nurse, palliative care with Marie Curie and coronary care.Whilst my daughter was young I left healthcare and moved into education and enjoyed working with children with disabilities for 7 years before returning to health care within the private sector. I spent 14 years combining managing my own care home whilst helping turn other homes with care issues around .Whilst very challenging I felt a great sense of achievement leaving them in a better place and worked in London, Jersey, Stockton and Middlesbrough. I was also lucky to provide training in Poland to carers relocating to England. I now manage a care home in Harrogate with nursing and residential residents. I have been 6 years in this post and love this 29 bed quirky home owned by Hc-One. I remain on the Board of Directors for the Independent Care Group and combined with managing a home this keeps me very busy !
