Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Develops, coordinates, implements & monitors all aspects of the hospital’s quality improvement, risk, & patient safety management activities.2. Prepares and administers the quality, risk, & patient safety program’s policy & procedures, meeting minutes, reports, statistics, files & other documents as required.3. Coordinates organizational quality reporting requirements (TJC: Core Measures, RWHC: Quality Indicators, WHA: Quality Initiative, AHA, etc.).4. Collaborates with Medical Staff Coordinator to establish criteria & monitor quality data for focused and ongoing professional practice evaluations for the medical staff.5. Proactively maintains the organization in a “constant readiness mode” by keeping current & coordinating/implementing changes to ensure the organization meets all regulatory & quality standards.6. Participates in quality, risk, patient safety, & regulatory orientation & educational in-services for employees and physicians including the overview of the Quality & Patient Safety Plans for the Organization.7. Manages potential & actual professional/clinical claims & suits related to the organization by acting as the liaison to the liability carrier, patient/family & involved practitioners.8. Develops & manages the organizations patient/visitor relations & Occurrence reporting & follow-up programs (i.e., patient perception of care surveys, concerns, service recovery, disclosures, RCA, FMEA, etc).9. Develops & monitors the budget for each of these programs under the direction of the Patient Care Director.Additional Duties10. Acts as the chair/facilitator of patient safety and regulatory-related committees, teams &/or short-term work teams.11. Maintains active membership in applicable quality professional organizations (i.e., Wisconsin Association for Healthcare Quality, RWHC Quality Roundtable, Wisconsin Society for Healthcare Risk Management, etc.).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCollects and reports data, statistics and information relevant to planning and management of the unit functions; Performs duties of the MT; Directs staff and schedules work to facilitate effective and efficient patient care; Identifies, facilitates and evaluates laboratory practices and goals according to established standards; Coordinates development and provision of clinical rotations for students; Plans, researches and requests purchases for department equipment and supplies; Investigates and takes appropriate action(s) to resolve department and personnel problems; Acts as the hospital and laboratory liaison to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare organizations; Provides leadership, vision, development and implementation of long-term laboratory goals for the organization; Develops, revises, reviews and updates all policies and procedures for the department; Performs other duties as assigned.
