Working in the Immunology Laboratory at Broomfield Hospital.Receiving samples from reception and checking the sample match the data inputted on computer. Also checking for haemolysed and lipaemic samples.Receiving samples from other hospitals, labelling and inputting patient details and tests onto computer.Spinning samples and separating serum to be referred to other hospitals. Sending some tests for Coag, and printing off some send sheets for haematology.Tracking of samples after analysis and preparing worklists.Finding samples from different departments for analysis using the Automate.Preparing wash solution for the analysers.Use of Winpath system.Make aware of any sample discrepancies and datix if need be.General duties - filing, checking freezer/room temperatures, checking invoices. Delivering QC pregnancy tests to the wards, defrosting freezers. Liaising with other hospitals. Scanning blood forms and patient data sheets.Attend haematolgy and Immunology staff meetings, and case studies.Checking old/new numbers and patient details for Transfusion dept.Occasionally helping out on reception, receiving samples and stamping them, and delivering samples to relevant departments.
