CurrentSelling Better ManifestoWe have created The Selling Better Movement with the hope it will help people understand that there's a better way of doing business. A way in which we can all be prosperous. The Selling Better Movement is an ethical and human-centred selling ethos underpinned by a practical selling philosophy. The modern business landscape offers a world of possibility. More and more people are stepping out to unearth new opportunities, bring ideas to market, start organisations, and connect and engage in new and exciting ways.Everybody lives by selling something. Whether we think of ourselves as sales people or not, if we have an idea, product, service, skill, talent or opportunity that can benefit someone else, we need to be able to sell. The profession of selling has been hijacked by the bad behaviour of a few, leaving a negative perception of selling and sales people as a whole. However, selling is a vital life skill that allows opportunity to flourish. The Selling Better Movement is about consciously reclaiming and practicing the true essence of selling. Why Create a Manifesto? At Barrett, we've been studying, researching, modelling, promoting and educating people on a better, human centred approach to selling since 1995. We call it our ‘Selling Better’ philosophy and practices, and we believe the time has come to make a stand. Selling Better is a compelling argument based on decades of specialised experience and a powerful case for changing the way we sell. This manifesto represents a declaration of our intentions to consciously reclaim and practice the true essence of selling. To join the Selling Better Movement contact us on (+61) 03 9533 0000 or contact@barrett.com.au. Please checkout www.sellingbetter.com for the details of our Manifesto.

Book Author
In the space of a few weeks, Sue Barrett lost her dad and had her trust betrayed by a person who left her business and took a deal worth $300,000 along with them.In mourning and trying to rescue her business, being grateful was far from her mind. That is until a friend prompted her to do a gratitude diary exercise on Facebook for five days. She would continue to write her diary for 142 days. This book is about how this daily practice helped her overcome challenging times and opened her heart and mind to the profound power of gratitude as a force for personal and social good. It’s not your typical business book, memoir or self help book. It's a combination of all 3 underpinned by a bit of science and philosophy as well.
Campaign Manager
In early November 2021 I accepted the offer of becoming Zoe Daniel’s campaign manager for the seat of Goldstein at the 2022 Federal Election. There from the start when we formed the community group Voices of Goldstein in November 2020 realising the untapped sea of people wanting real change – real action on climate, integrity, equality, shared prosperity and better politics- to selecting a community-backed independent candidate in October 2021, to starting a full-on political campaign with a handful of people in early November 2021, then leading a 1,500 strong organisation of volunteers in less than 6 months was a real honour.Campaign systems, resourcing, funding, team structures, roles and responsibilities, and a code of conduct all had to be developed from scratch pretty much, however we didn’t have to do it alone because we also had the legacy and support of Cathy McGowan, who paved the way for the community-backed Independenty model. In that time, we have created a campaign leadership team, operations and on-the-ground teams, a fundraising team, policies, website, campaign and media strategy, branding and messaging, marketing, advertising and social media campaigns, marketing materials and merchandising, learning and IT systems, events and community activity schedules including street meets, leafletting, door knocking, phone banking, community QandA events, summits, Zoe walks and bike rides, Zoe dog walks, a Team Zoe choir, the list is long, as well as raise $1.3M+, most of which has come from our community to fund this campaign and give us a real chance of winning. It’s was a full-on, 7-day a week operation.I didn’t accept the offer lightly. Truth is I have never run a political campaign of any kind before, but when I thought about it, a political campaign is the ultimate example of an on-the-ground human-to-human sales led campaign and I have helped run many successful sales led campaigns before so I accepted this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
