Co-Owner
Together with my husband, we own and operate a modest commercial beef cattle operation in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. We winter our cattle in Grass Valley and Cottonwood, CA and summer our cattle in the higher elevations of Sierraville and Quincy, CA. Through careful breeding selection, we have continued to improve on the quality of our cow/calf herd; our cows have improved milk production and quality, as well as a strong mothering instinct and docile disposition. In 2014, one of our home-bred steers received the Carcass Merit Award at the Nevada County Fair. The carcass was labeled USDA Prime Plus, a designation reserved for less than 2% of all animals that are butchered in the United States. Through grazing, we strive to improve the quality of our pastures in order to improve the condition of our end product. We retain a select number of animals for the grass-fed/finished beef market and sell USDA inspected cuts of beef to the end user.
