Facilitation & PublishingUniversity Of South Wales 2001 - Jul 2017Treforest, PontypriddI led a specialist team providing consultancy and direct support for e-learning (blended learning/technology-enhanced learning). My operational responsibilities included the curation, editing and publication of digital content for staff and students. Our work was founded on sound pedagogical principles; from this we provided creative solutions, applying technology to underpin and enhance the learning and teaching experience. My teams’s work included developing online content to meet both educational and publishing standards, backed up by high-quality print, audio/video and online media. Our much-praised teaching support pack 'Smoothies: Recipes for a Blended Learning Experience' was adopted by a number of other universities in the UK and US. Having joined the (then) University of Glamorgan in 2001, until 2006 I led the editorial team for E-College Wales (ECW) — a £6m e-learning project, supported by the European Social Fund (ESF) Objective One programme. My editorial team worked in close collaboration with academic content specialists, instructional designers, graphic designers and developers. Our groundbreaking and innovative MA Personal Development and BA Enterprise online courses — built on a bespoke technological platform — were acknowledged to be at the forefront of e-learning innovation not just in Europe but worldwide.Subsequently I was also editor for:• South Wales on iTunes U — launched March 2010 to provide a global platform for the work of the academic staff and students. Our award-winning content has been watched/downloaded more than 2 million times by users worldwide. South Wales on iTunes U website. • South Wales on iBooks Bookstore — our first publication, 'Research Methods for Business Student, Managers and Entrepreneurs' was a world-first in the subject as a media-rich, interactive, multitouch digital book. All our books were distributed free as OER. -

EditorMeu Cymru / Wjec 1985 - 1990I led a production team of editors and graphic designers to publish cross-curricular educational materials for primary and secondary education, in both Welsh and English. I also compiled and edited a bilingual monthly newsletter on computer-based learning, ‘Sglodion’, which was distributed to every school in Wales.I and my team worked in close collaboration with academic contributors (mainly seconded teachers) and computer programmers/developers to produce highly sophisticated, interactive, computer-based learning resources. We also published extensive, print-based, user guides and teaching support materials, and advisory and guidance publications for teachers. We started with traditional editing of paper-based copy and galley proofs, with manual paste-up to CRC. Within the first year I persuaded the director (a man of exceptional vision for education and educational computing) to invest in a fully digital Apple Mac publishing system. To the best of my knowledge, we were the first publisher in Wales to have a fully digital production process.
