About Sue Chance

Sue Chance is a Associate Director at Marist University. She possess expertise in recruiting, job placements, presentations, resume writing, benefits administration and 19 more skills. Colleagues describe her as "Imagine interviewing for one job and having an entirely new job created just for you because you were that amazing! Well, that’s exactly what happened with Sue Chance. During my tenure as the WIOA Manager at Dutchess One Stop Career Center, we posted a position for a part time One Stop Operating System (OSOS) Coordinator and Sue applied. During the interview, in front of an interview team of five, Sue’s energy and positive attitude came shining through. My Executive Director and I exchanged a glance and a nod. We knew we needed Sue on our team but not for this position. Sue was hired, not as the OSOS Coordinator but instead for a brand new position conceived with her in mind. Jumping right in with both feet, Sue embraced every job assignment. Within her first five months on the team, she resurrected the Career Center’s Job Club with her co-worker Rick McKinney, providing guidance and support to help get participants back into the workforce, assumed responsibility for the facilitation of the Using Age to Your Advantage workshop (which to this day remains one of the most popular workshops at the Career Center) and co-managed and coordinated the first of many successful Career Center events, “A Walk Around the One Stop.” Sue always gives more than 100% and I don’t say that lightly. She may work part time hours but she produces more than any full time employee. Always taking on more responsibility, always with a smile, and always delivering! I am honored and humbled by Sue Chance. " and "Sue is a very motivating, warm, and engaging person who co-facilitated our Job Club experience at Dutchess One Stop. She gave us good guidance and excellent common sense options regarding our job searches. We were fortunate to have come across her in our job quest. "

As an Admissions Counselor working with non-traditional students at The CIA, I am responsible for communicating with prospective students through phone, email, text, and other types of personalized communications to guide and manage their advance through our admissions process. We are a hospitality college and providing outstanding personal attention is something that is without question, one of the most important attributes of any employee at The CIA.Working with these non-traditional students, which include adults, transfer students, career changers and others who are on a less traditional college path, requires proficiency in all CIA degree and certificate programs, as well as the ability to communicate CIA’s transfer credit policy as it relates to each program offering. I also have the opportunity to visit community colleges and attend transfer fairs in order to meet and educate prospective students about the amazing programs and exciting college experience awaiting them at the CIA!In addition, I facilitate presentations about the college to groups of students, educators, and parents on a regular basis. Participation in our seamless recruiting events, such as accepted student days, open houses, information sessions and transfer Tuesdays is one of my favorite parts of the job! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet, speak with, and form great relationships with future CIA students and their families…so enjoyable that it is hard to call this a “job”!
