A Speech Language Pathologist with over 25 years of experience, I have spent significant time working in both the education and medical models. Having worked in Home Care, Rehab and as a Private Therapist, my experience in the medical side of Speech Language Pathology is wide and broad. Currently freelancing in the area of Home Care with the Waveny Lifecare Network, I am knowledgable on a variety of disorders with a particular emphasis on Swallowing Disorders and Aphasia. Having spent 15 years with the Stamford Public School System on the Interdisciplinary Preschool Assessment Team, I am no stranger to the educationally-based model of therapy. Serving as the SLP on this team, my principle role was to use a culturally-sensitive, standards based approach to assessing the communication skills of students ages 2 to 5 years. In addition to highly regarded skills in the area of assessment, I have provided support and guidance to many parents who are learning to adapt to their children's communication differences. My deep understanding of the special education referral and assessment process make me uniquely positioned to assist clients in navigating the maze of special education process while my background in serving a diverse population representing many linguistic backgrounds contributes to my proficiency. I am certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), and hold a Connectucut Professional Educator license as well as a CT Health Department license and have had training in a wide variety of methodologies including Hanen Program, Floortime/DIR, ABA, ADOS administration and CPI/Restraint Training. Additionally, I am a certified LSVT-Loud practitioner and well versed in dysphagia, aphasia, voice disorders, dementia care and the provision of family and staff education to facilitate an efficient transition for those in need of rehabilitation services at any point of the lifespan.
