Hi, I am a qualified secondary Maths teacher providing one-to-one tutition in Maths after school and on Saturday mornings. I tailor the learning experience to suit each child. Whether your child is lacking confidence in Maths and needs support, or has specific issues that need targeted help, I will work with them.  I can tutor either short term concentraing on certain subjects, or work with your child over the full subject for a longer period. Students age 11 - 17 can come to me, covering Key Stage 3 Maths and Key stage 4 Maths GCSE (Foundation or Higher). I can accommodate all examination boards.

At Prince Henry’s School, Otley I gained further KS3 experience with a year 8 class as well as extending my teaching into KS4 with two year 9 classes (Sets 1 and 3) and a year 10 class. The year 8 and year 10 classes were the lower ability groups, requiring the extra assistance of a TA. I completed teaching Unit 1 (Number and Statistics) under the new AQA specification with the Year 9’s. The year 9 classes sat Unit 1 higher GCSE this June and it was an honour to be given the opportunity to guide their learning towards this extremely important time in their education. The year 10 class followed the legacy AQA specification and I taught module 5 (Algebra and Space, Shape and Measure). All of these KS4 experiences will benefit the students I teach GCSE to next year. At KS5, I have taught momentum as part of the Mechanics module to the Y13 ‘A2’ level group. During this placement I also undertook the role of Teaching Assistant for a student with Down’s syndrome and found the experience very useful. It helped me to understand his ability levels and how to plan differentiated work. It also made me aware of the value of good communication with the TA and the importance of IEPs. Finally this experience built on the knowledge gained at the University of Leeds about Every Child Matters.

In my first placement at Rossett School, Harrogate, I gained experience of teaching throughout KS3 following a scheme of work based on the National Strategy units. There was a half termly assessment cycle to which I contributed level assessments for my classes through differentiated Q and A, in-class assessment of work, Assessment for Learning white-board activities and setting homework for formative and level assessments.
