Sue Mylde is currently the Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship & Skills (IDEAS) Coordinator at Rundle College. She is an educator and TEDx speaker with a multi-dimensional background in communications, education and research. Her classroom experiences include integrating Educational Technology in K-6, teaching Grades 5-6, and more recently, developing and teaching the Computer Science and Coding Program for Grades 7-10 at Rundle College Junior High, an independent school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is most passionate about areas where technology and pedagogy meet. Engaging students in learner experiences that allow them to nurture crucial, transferable skills such as critical thinking, design thinking and problem solving. By developing programs which include robotics, coding, digital citizenship, and technology impact studies, Sue understands the importance of a dynamic, future-friendly curriculum that prepares students for the ever-changing world of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. She shares her work often with other teachers through multiple Professional Development (PD) conferences and presentations with the Calgary Regional Consortium. She has presented on Digital Citizenship, Scratch Coding, Python Coding and the importance of balance in the approach to technology. An advocate for balance, Sue’s TEDx YYC presentation is on “The Forgotten Power of Hands On Learning”, which reminds us of the importance of using our hands to learn - even as we continue to use technology as a tool for our future.In 2023/24, Sue is also delighted to be a part of the Let’s Talk Science Teacher Leader Program as Regional Lead for Alberta.
