My career spans over a decade of civil litigation in Brazil, where I sharpened my skills in complex legal environments.Currently, I work for a leading software company in facial recognition technology, focusing on:- Intellectual Property (trademarks and licensing agreements);- Privacy (particularly sensitive personal data like biometrics);- Artificial intelligence (monitoring developments, and advising legal and ethical deployment);- Export control (due diligence and contract/party screening); and- general corporate matters (contract drafting, review, and negotiation). I am actively involved in shaping the future of biometric regulation through policy work with various stakeholders. I am a member of the British Standards Institution committee, contributing to the development of the BS 9347 Code of Practice for the ethical use of facial recognition technology in video surveillance. Additionally, I am part of the Security Industry Association's Facial Recognition Group, working on the assessment and advocacy of biometric regulations in the United States.My commitment to the legal community extends to public speaking engagements, where I share my expertise as an IP practitioner, guest speaker, and lecturer at the University of Washington.Beyond my professional life, I am a passionate advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, an avid explorer of knowledge, and an active member of my community.
