I focus on portraiture and illustration. I exhibit regularly as a member of The Society of Graphic Fine Arts and The Oxford Art Society. I take part in Oxfordshire Artweeks and Devon Open Studios annually and have been selected to exhibit with several local and national societies including The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, The RWS, The RSBA and The SGFA. I exhibit frequently in local galleries. I have been a board member for Oxfordshire Artweeks and am now a board member for Devon Open Studios.Capturing the story of an individual in a portrait is both a challenge and a joy. Through detailed mark making and the build up of layers, I aim to capture how the subtle ways in which we look, speak and gesture can give a range of fleeting impressions to the observer - the angle of a head, the position of a hand.I also enjoy exploring our local environment of tree, copse, land and sky. Using drawing media, I work on detailed drawings of trees, capturing the way they settle in the landscape. I also aim to capture the movement and character of starling murmurations, using both graphite and etching techniques.
