I manage and lead large scale projects across our various Platform Teams to make Monzo's microservices platform the best it can be for enigneers and customers. This requires working across the engineering discipline at Monzo to prioritise and deliver a reliable and stable platform. I work alongside VPs, C-Suite and ExCo to make Monzo's technology match it's ambitions.On a day to day basis, I specialise in Golang, Kubernetes, Envoy Proxy, Cassandra, Etcd, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and more.Highlight projects:📝 Developing Monzo's long term Platform and Technical Strategy and working with the CTO and engineering teams across the company to deliver on that strategy🔋 Implementing Monzo's Platform foundations to facilitate over 2000 microservices and hundreds of change deployments per day💰 Running a successful £20 million crowdfunding campaign on the same platform which runs the bank🌸 Rolling out Envoy Proxy and speeding up service-to-service communication (including contributing to the Envoy Proxy open source project)⛲ Managing the Apache Cassandra estate underpinning the bank📈 Rewriting the internals of Monzo's Go ORM (gocassa) for significant performance improvements (reducing latency and CPU usage) I conduct Public Speaking all around the world at meet-ups and conferences. I also take part in the hiring pipeline, mentoring and on-call duties.
