Sirf closed down its complete Bangalore office, of which the Analog design team was a part. This was in end 2008, beginning 2009 at the peak of the downturn. The team wanted to as far as possible stay together and we tried to move as a team. Broadcom interviewed 14 members of my team and decided to take in 8. We decided to move into Broadcom. The rest were eventually placed in other companies. Here I was managing the team as Sr. Manager reporting to Sr. Director in Broadcom.Our first assignment was the Ethernet 10/100, which is a old standard – however we had to do it in the latest technology node. Our design did well, was robust and is today in more than 15 products.We continued delivering multiple IP's to be integrated into different SOC projects into Broadcom. It was at this time, after the team was well settled I decided to leave and try out some of the things independently.

Truespan was acquired by SiRF. After acquisition, as Director – Analog engineering reporting to VP Hardware Engineering, my charter was expanded to design and develop analog modules for SiRF’s products. Primary focus has been data converters and power management. To achieve this objective, the team grew from 5 at the time of acquisition to around 15 within a year and half. There was conscious effort on my part to continuously improve the team. Mentoring of individual team members, driving design reviews and technical interactive sessions, and focus on methodology for flawless execution were some of the efforts expended to achieve this.At SiRF, we worked on BT ADC, Current DAC's, Continous time sigma-delta as well as a low power low resolution discrete time sigma-delta. In addition we did the power management for their combo chip (GPS+BT+FM). Chips have gone to production

Truespan was a startup company in the DVB-H product space. My team’s charter at Truespan was to design the analog portions of the baseband chip, this being the ADC and PLL. PLL was developed by 3rd party. We also did the DC offset loop (circuit + algorithm) and RF Power Detector design of the RF chip. The solution was production ready with customer demos before it was shelved due to change in strategy.

Insilica was a startup company started with initial focus in the wireless space. My brief was to develop Analog Competency for Insilica in Design, Layout and Characterization. Built the team from scratch, i.e. placing advertisements, setting question papers, interviews (over 150 candidates) to a peak strength of 12 members.Team accomplished a big chip consisting of 16 ADC's and DAC's. Also built the charaterisation lab and got the chip characterised.
