About Sujai Shivakumar, Ph.D.
Dr. Shivakumar is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies where he directs the program on Renewing American Innovation. He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on public policies related to innovation systems, advanced manufacturing, technology-based regional economic growth, public-private technology partnerships, and the skilled technical workforce. As Director of the National Academies Innovation Policy Forum, Dr. Shivakumar regularly convened high-level discussions through briefings, workshops, and conferences among U.S. and foreign policymakers, business leaders and academic experts. These discussions focused on policies and programs supporting innovation partnerships, advanced manufacturing, knowledge-based economic development, intellectual property, and the impact of new technologies on economic growth. Under his leadership, the Forum also sought to highlight the impact of global innovation policies and programs, including those of China, on the sustainability of the U.S. science and innovation infrastructure.
