Awareness for POTSies (A4P) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those with POTS and co-occurring conditions. POTS is estimated to affect millions in the US alone, and is one of the most common forms of dysautonomia. These illnesses are being seen more often following Covid-19 infections, often seen in those with long COVID. Mercy Medical Ministry & Clinic offers low to no-cost outpatient medical services dedicated to assisting those without health insurance in the Auburn/Opelika community. As a medical provider, I address primary health care needs such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart failure, COPD, thyroid disease, and various chronic conditions; services include wellness screenings, physical exams, post-discharge follow-ups, medication assistance programs, and diabetic supplies/education.

Crisis Text Line is the free, nationwide, 24/7 text line for people in crisis. Text 741741 from anywhere in the USA to text with a trained Crisis Counselor.Being a Crisis Counselor means I have the opportunity to help someone work through moments of anger, frustration, sadness, and pain with the aim to empower them to make plans for their own safety. After completing the 34-hour online training over 2 months which included quizzes, role plays, and live observations, content about depression, anxiety, suicide etc, I became an intervention counselor. Being a Crisis Counselor lets me talk to hundreds of people with unique stories. This experience has taught me and continues to teach me that humans are resilient.

Time limited contract position [40 hours of platform coverage +20 hours of training]. I was responsible for assisting our remote Crisis Counselors in offering the best possible quality care to texters in crisis, support them, and facilitate active rescues/child protective services when needed.

I started my own campaign for the organization charity: water with a simple idea -everyone on the planet should have clean water to drink. Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year. This campaign provided individuals across the globe with clean water. I used social media and public awareness to raise over $1000 to fund water projects. I was a leader and motivated other people to make a difference in our world. I became a corporate representative where I was able to take on multiple tasks for the company to ensure the functionality of the company. I have gained a sense of responsibility to step up and assist our fellow humans.Tasks: Tax-receipts, videography, website updates/ blogs, data analysis. Since the age of six, I took piano lessons and participated in a number of competitions. It is a great passion of mine because it is my means of expressing my creative side. I also want to pass my love of the piano and music to the next generation. I have a sincere desire to provide children background and instruction in music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques. Sharing my love for music has allowed me to develop my leadership and communication skills. Music brightens everyone's soul and has especially shown me how amazing our brain can work. I believe all children should learn a how to play a musical instrument to enrich their mind and spark creativity.Lesson length varies from 30 minutes to an hour, and usually takes place once per week. Research Team Members: Sujana Reddy & Dr. Jason HeatonProject Summary: Studying the functional pedal morphology of Homo sapiens, Gorilla gorilla, Pan troglodytes, Papio ursinus, and Pongo abelii may expand our knowledge of the directional selection involved in shaping the hominoid foot. In turn, the results may reveal evidence for the shift to bipedalism – a hallmark of the human lineage. I hypothesize that if there is variation in the degree of torsion, dorsal canting, and robusticity between the rays of the metatarsals of extant apes and humans, then the pattern of torsion, dorsal canting, and robusticity observed in rays across species will vary interspecifically, but not as much intraspecifically. To determine if differences are present, computed tomography scans were utilized. To assess for differences, the length and width (for robusticity), the angular deviation from vertical plane (for dorsal canting), and the degree of torsion of the head in relation to the base of the metatarsals were measured. Results showed robusticity to be prominent in metatarsal one and five across all species of apes. Pongo abelii (orangutan) had the lowest average degree of dorsal canting, while Papio ursinus (baboon) and Pan troglodytes (chimp) had relatively higher degrees of dorsal canting across the metatarsals. Degree of torsion was on average higher across all species of extant apes. Data analysis indicates that there are structural differences in the metatarsals, which possibly relate to functional differences among the species. Future studies will provide a better understanding of the locomotor dynamics that exist between the metatarsals in extant apes.
