For my orientation, I was given a tour of the facilities in Meydan as well as their Hub Operations located in Terminal 2 of Dubai Airport. This gave me an opportunity to familiarise how DHL operates as a whole.After that, I worked in the Dubai Area Operations Department, under the guidance of the Senior Manager Network Operations, MENA. During the Internship, my key tasks included:• Supporting a project to improve efficiencies around stock check-in for fast-moving e-commerce orders (Pre- Sorting system to increase the efficiency of processing JITS for YNAP, an E-commerce company. This system had real-life implications and usage and it is still being used in the Warehouse facilities of DHL located in the Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZA)).•Analysis of flight routings and transit times for aviation spare part shipments from US to Qatar.•Analysis of service performance for aviation spare part shipments from US, UK, Germany and France to Qatar.•Analysis of connectivity to DHL flights of eCommerce shipments originating from DHL warehouse operations in the UAE.•Supported in the training of the sales team on performance reporting application•Collection of customs clearance information to include in an internal and external customs guide for potential eCommerce customers •Determining duty & VAT rates for specific HTS codes for a range of countries.
