From an early age, I was creative and spent hours, days and years exploring the world of art as a passion. I attended a private secondary school in London that unfortunately didn’t offer Art as a GCSE- the culture of the school was heavily and primarily focused on the usual core academic subjects. However, I found a sophisticated way of incorporating Art into my institution as my confidence grew. In my final year, I organised and hosted a fashion show for all my fellow peers to partake in, especially for those with an imaginative mind. The concept of the fashion show was based on escapism, with a dash of rebellion made from recycled material. As part of my work experience in year 10, I secured a place at a costume company that creates garments for Carnivals. Having that experience inspired me to start attending sewing classes on weekends for the period of a year. When it came to applying for sixth form, I was rejected because I didn't have an art GCSE nor a portfolio as such. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop me from perusing my endeavours. I was persistent in getting a place at Nowerhill Sixth Form, as it is one of the finest schools for Art and Design in the Harrow borough. During my A-Levels, I was fortunate to have been taught by a graduate of Central Saint Martins. I was taught the importance of experimenting and developing my work before reaching the outcome to create depth to the Art- this gave me the opportunity to discover new mediums and skills such as photoshop, illustrator, screen printing, mono-printing, and carving my own stamps. With all this knowledge combined, I created my final piece for "The Killers" project which formed part of my A-Level Component 1 Portfolio. I achieved a Grade A, and it was then I was advised to apply to Central Saint Martins. I later applied to UAL Chelsea College of Art & Design for the BA Product and Furniture Design course, and after my interview, I was given an unconditional offer. Further to this, I was also accepted into Brunel to undertake BA Industrial Design and Technology. I spent 1 year at Brunel University and then decided that the course was not fulfilling my passions. From there I decided to terminate my place at Brunel and privately funded a Fashion Mix Short Course at Central Saint Martin’s so that I can learn how to create a fashion collection. My ambition and determination to become an icon designer grows each day like a plant being watered.
