Duties & Responsibilities• In charge of generators, purifiers, compressors, fuel transfer, fuel calculation, engineering watches (UMS conditions), maintenance of auxiliary machinery and engines. • Ensured safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective operations, whilst maintaining and repairing vessels including technical installations, whilst ensuring vessels stay on schedule. • Planned coastal work within tight schedules, oversaw shore-side work crews for specialized work. Also coordinated landing of goods for repair and delivery of spares and consumables. • Responsible for operation and maintenance of diesel generating plant and associated equipment, plus ordering critical spares and maintenance planning. Also responsible for overhaul and inspection of main engine components and checking parts are within manufacturers tolerances as and when they are exchanged. These could be Pistons, cylinder heads, exhaust valves, fuel injection equipment etc. • Coordination with External Inspection Agencies:  Coordinating along with chief engineer with inspection agencies (ABS, Lloyd's, DNV) for machinery survey / inspection on ship and approval. Coordinating with Port State Control Surveyors for inspection of ship safety equipment. • Quality and Safety records:  Maintain quality and safety records as per ISM (International Safety Management)  Maintain records of preventive maintenance as per planed preventive maintenance schedule.• Inventory control:  Controlling Inventory of machines spare parts items. Preparing Indent requisition for engine machinery and other machines spare parts. • Fire Fighting And Emergency Equipment: Fully responsible for the maintenance and working of all fire fighting equipments like all types of fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, valves, hoses, fire suits, fire pump and emergency equipments like emergency escape breathing apparatus, emergency compressor, emergency generator and life boat engines
