Project Title: Multi-Spindle Nutrunner Tool Attachment for Connecting Rod Pre-Tightening Operation.• The project aimed at developing a tool which can pre-tighten two connecting rod caps simultaneously in the single engagement of the tool.• First in-house tool design and development project by Engine Shop 2.• The project was executed to decrease operator fatigue, process time and compressed air consumption.• Designed the tool using Solidworks and machine design concepts.• Performed FEA simulations, interference detection and mass optimization for the design verification.• Used Design for Assembly methodology for easy tool repair and cost reduction.Project Title: Operator Assistance System Using Gyroscope Sensor• The project intended at developing a feedback system for the operator to indicate the right positioning angle for press-fitting operations.• The project was undertaken for operator assistance, increased pass ratio and its cost-effectiveness.• Used Inertial motion sensors(gyroscope) to determine the angle in space and communicate the wrong position to the operator through an acoustic signal.• Used Arduino IDE for programming the micro-controller.• Developed the prototype and tested in the engine assembly line.Project Title: Measurement of engine sealant thickness using digital image processing• The project aimed at developing an image processing algorithm to measure the sealant thickness by using images only.• The project was conceived to assist the quality team for quality inspection which earlier used traditional manual measurement.• Used MATLAB, Image Acquisition Toolbox and Image Processing Toolbox for performing different image processing techniques.• Successfully got the sealant thickness at certain Region of Interests.
