Architect, Urban Design Planner + Educator based in Manchester, UK.I am an ARB registered Architect, currently in the unique position of delving into both public sector practice and academia simultaneously. I am a Public Practice Associate, working as an Urban Design Planner at Derby City Council. Alongside this role, I am a Module Leader and Design Tutor on the MArch (RIBA Part 2) programme at Loughborough University. At Derby City Council I am involved in several areas including Development Control, Policy, Guidance Development and several major city centre regeneration project teams.I have over 8 years of professional practice experience as an Architect. Most recently I was employed by Marchini Curran Associates in Nottingham, where worked on several medium to large scale, design-led commercial projects. Most notably the high profile redevelopment of The Clarendon Centre in the heart of Oxford City Centre. Prior to MCa, I worked at the award winning Cartwright Pickard Architects in Manchester working on large and complex residential and workplace projects. Alongside my work in industry, at Loughborough University I have been working at one of the premier architecture schools in the country since its early days as a Module Leader and Design Tutor. As part of this role I have been involved in teaching both on the undergraduate (RIBA Part 1) and postgraduate (RIBA Part 2) courses at Loughborough. At present I am involved in the Design Studio teaching for both first and second year MArch students as the Module Leader for the first year MArch Design Studio. My role at Loughborough University also involves strategic planning, curriculum development and recruitment. I have also gained the Higher Education Academy Fellowship (FHEA) recognising my teaching quality during my employment at Loughborough University. The quality of my design work has been recognised through being awarded the RIBA Yorkshire Gold Medal, and receiving a nomination for the RIBA President's Medal for my university work.My research interests outside of professional practice centre on research concerning the politics of space, critical spatial practice and other ways of doing architecture. Going forward, I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge and understanding of AI, and its implications for the production of socio-political city space.
