Sumit has 17 years of experience in institutional equity research covering India Industrials, Infrastructure & Power sectors. He assumed coverage of these sectors at Axis Capital in Dec 2020. Prior to Axis, his entire sell-side career was with J.P. Morgan. Sumit is voted by major institutional investors. He has cultivated strong corporate relationships. During his research career, he has been part of multiple primary and secondary market transactions. Prior to J.P. Morgan, he worked with EY on process consulting assignments for power utilities including Torrent Power, TNB (Malaysia), Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd and NPCIL. Qualifications include an MBA (Finance, 2004-06) from SPJIMR (Deans Top 20), Mumbai and B.Tech. (Electrical, 1999-2003, Merit Scholarship recipient over duration of course) from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad. Sumit did his summer internship (as part of his engineering degree) at BHEL, Bhopal and management internship (as part of MBA) at Deutsche Bank, Mumbai. He is a National Talent Scholarship (N.T.S.E.) holder.
