During my placement year, I spent most of my time on a Chatbot project. I contributed to all aspects of the development with the main API built in Node with a Vue frontend. It also had a NLP microservice built in Python. Designed to be cloud agnostic, the service contained many integrations to different NLP services and databases including Mongo and DynamoDB. Through some innovative programming, I was able to decrease the query latency, allowing the chatbot to respond to a significantly higher number of client requests without scaling up.
