About Suleman M.

Suleman Masood is an internationally-recognized subject matter expert on human trafficking and male victimization. Since 2013, his advocacy experience has allowed him to work exclusively with local, state, and federal government agencies and non-profitorganizations. Mr. Masood's expertise includes collaborating with victim serviceproviders and task forces to advocate for ways to improve the quality of services fortrafficking survivors. This work emphasizes building partnerships with survivors andensuring that strategies and implementation influence a survivor-informed approach. Mr.Masood currently serves as a Council Member for the United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, a Presidentially-appointed position, and previously served as Council Chair from 2021-2023. Through Mr. Masood’s leadership, the Council provides recommendations on federal anti-trafficking policies to the President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (PITF).Mr. Masood’s partnerships with service providers and first responders include serving as a senior program manager on behalf of the Office for Victims of Crime. In 2017, Mr. Masood was credited with coining the phrase "survivor-informed," adopted andpublished by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The term“survivor-informed” is now integrated throughout the anti-trafficking field. Mr. Masood graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Criminology/Victimology from Fresno State University. He also graduated cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia – David A. Clarke School of Law. Mr. Masood lives by the mantra, “success is the best revenge.”
