About Sultan Abdul-Jawad

I am an Immunologist with a PhD in Clinical Medicine from the University of Oxford, where I developed HIV-1 vaccines. Specialised in cellular immunology and translational studies in infectious disease and oncology. Led and collaborated on multiple world-leading clinical studies, from the much publicised HIV-1 remission case ‘the London Patient’ to running one of the first studies to extensively characterise the immuno-phenotype of SARS-CoV-2 and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines in cancer patients. This has led to multiple high impact publications in Nature, Cancer Cell, Nature Medicine, Lancet Oncology and many more.Extensive experience (10+ years) in basic, translational and clinical research. Skilled in Molecular and Cellular Immunology - Vaccine design, development and testing (vector & immunogen) - Drug resistance phenotyping and assay development.
