I have over 20 years of experience handling trademark, copyright, entertainment, intellectual property, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, business transactions, and new media and technology transactions. I have extensive experience with trademarks in particular. Trademark law is a niche practice and you have to understand its intricacies to give good advice and properly represent clients. I handle all aspects of trademark law from clearance to the registration process to licensing, exploitation of the brand and transactions such as co-branding deals, handling trademarks and IP assets in M&A deals, borrowing against trademark collateral, to proper use of brands and protecting, policing and enforcing trademarks, to domain name issues, among other things.I am also certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/U.S. CIPP has been recognized as the world’s preeminent credential in the business of privacy and demonstrates that recipients of the certification have an understanding of privacy and data protection law and practice, including: jurisdictional laws, regulations and enforcement models; essential privacy concepts and principles, including company policies and compliance; and legal requirements for handling and transferring data, among other things. I have experience handling all of these issues, in particular, advising on creating and adhering to privacy policies to comply with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), among other things, and I am up to date on the trends and potential new legislation in this area.
