I am involved in various projects such as a) Development of a dense ceramic and metal-based composite at low temperature for metallic substrates using electrophoresis and ALD, b) Developing 3D structures with help of ALD infiltration technique, c) Developing new oxidation barrier coating for high-temperature applications, d) Studying effect of ion irradiation on both composite and ALD coating materials using ANL’s IVEM and ATLAS facilities and finally e) With help of electrochemical etching and… Show more I am involved in various projects such as a) Development of a dense ceramic and metal-based composite at low temperature for metallic substrates using electrophoresis and ALD, b) Developing 3D structures with help of ALD infiltration technique, c) Developing new oxidation barrier coating for high-temperature applications, d) Studying effect of ion irradiation on both composite and ALD coating materials using ANL’s IVEM and ATLAS facilities and finally e) With help of electrochemical etching and ALD surface modifications to improve electron emission for thermionic applications. The work that I have been doing during these projects tenure has resulted in; a) development of a new ALD coating which can be used as a high-temperature oxidation barrier (ZrSiO4), b) a new way developing ceramic composites over metallic substrates which resulted in a patent application, c) more clear understanding regarding ALD coating stability under extreme conditions and d) electrode surface with high aspect ratio structures which resulted in increased electron emission Show less

I have been involved in establishing coating facilities for nuclear and non-nuclear materials, which are; (1) Atomic layer deposition and (b) Electrophoretic deposition. Using these facilities I have developed innovative surface coating/modification methods which are (a)Developing low-temperature dense CERMET composites for diffusion barrier application (this work lead to patent filing #US patent App. 15/638,725), (b) Defect-free, metal/ceramic multilayer coatings for diffusion barrier at the… Show more I have been involved in establishing coating facilities for nuclear and non-nuclear materials, which are; (1) Atomic layer deposition and (b) Electrophoretic deposition.
