• Performing the operational establishment and preventive maintenance of backups and recovery procedures and enforcing security and integrity controls.• Accepting responsibility for the processes, procedures, and operational management associated with system security and disaster recovery planning.• Ensuring backups for clients, restoring them on demand, and performing backup drills to verify the integrity of backups to ensure smooth recovery in case of disaster.• Diagnosing and resolving problems with computer systems, including servers, workstations, and backup systems.• Preparing and maintaining documentation, policies, and instructions, and recording and detailing operational procedures and system logs for Audit purposes.• Ensuring that the design of computer sites allows all components to fit together and work properly and monitoring and adjusting the performance of networks.• Continually survey the current computer site to determine future needs and recommend enhancements in implementing future servers and backup software.

Following job responsibilities were carried out on this position and consequently skilled in following areas: • Administrate AIX 5.3, 6.1, 7.1 & Linux (Redhat, Oracle, Suse) platform for 1000+ client servers under support contract from 4 different business units of Telenor Group.• User/role planning, implementation and management.• Platform readiness for application integration.• Perform regular OS backup and drill OS restores.• AIX & Linux OS patch planning and deployment.• Provide consultancy to application/DBA on enhancing performance and enforcing security.• Ensure security enforcement on UNIX OSes as per company policy.• IBM HACMP/Veritas Cluster/Redhat Cluster configuration/reconfiguration and administration.• AIX & Linux performance analysis and troubleshooting.• Basic Storage Area Network administration.

Working to provide client side server support for Installation, Configuration, Administration, Problem Determination and Troubleshooting, Enhance security, System User security enablement, System Performance tuning and technical support for IBM Power Systems (System P). Day to day monitoring and AIX System management, error analysis, system health checkup and troubleshooting. Have working experience with IBM AIX 5.3, 6.1, 7.1, PowerHA 6.1HMC v7+ (Hardware Management Console), LPAR, Volume Group, Logical Volume Manager, resource movement and allocation.
