A development sector professional with over fifteen years of experience working closely with central government, many state governments, cooperative federations and local bodies across India. Sumit has also worked with industry groups, academic institutions, civil society groups and other stakeholders on wide range of issues including participatory governance, cooperative entrepreneurship, livelihoods, slum rehabilitation, environment and service delivery. In 2015, Sumit had conceptualized and executed Smart Colony - Smart Ward Initiative to ensure meaningful participation of citizens and other stakeholders in urban governance. The initiative has been endorsed and recommended to municipal bodies in Rajasthan and Goa by respective state governments. He had served as Expert Member, District Sanitation Monitoring Committee of Jodhpur and Coordinator, Town Vending Committee, Jodhpur Municipal Corporation in same year.In 2008, Sumit had co-authored a policy paper on ‘Participatory Governance in urban India- Special focus on urban poor’ with Mr. Ramesh Ramanathan, Member, National Core Group on Urban Poverty of Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India.
