The Chief Information Security Officer for BMC expands on the role of Director of Information Security by increasing the focus on strategic integration of the existing information security program with efforts relating to improvements in the area of business continuity and emergency management, as well as advance threat detection and response. This role has renewed focus on risk mitigation, education, awareness as well as relationship building with senior clinical leadership, risk management, legal, human resources, Health Information Management, and compliance departments. Reporting to the CIO & Senior VP for Technology, Quality & Risk, the Senior Director of ITS Operations served as the senior leader for technical services in the ITS department. This position was accountable for supporting the alignment of information technology and the needs of the many ambulatory practices and health centers supported by BMC ITS. Additionally, the position was also responsible for managing the relationship with FIS Group and Budgeting areas.This role had leadership responsibility over 130 FTE’s specializing in Infrastructure Services, Database & Integration, Business & Ancillary Applications, Clinical Engineering and Information Security. Areas of leadership focus included: - Overseeing the daily operations of the information technology department by providing consultation to internal and external customers on critical business problems, defining business processes and researching/identifying enabling technologies based on customer requirements- Collaborative dialogue with BMC senior management, and peer-level managers to assess the technological cost and impact of recommended changes, help clarify priorities, and coordinate cross-organizational consortia where common needs have been identified- Directing complex projects while maintaining responsibility for the overall implementation and execution of project and performance criteria- Operational management of multi-million dollar IT operating budgets

Reporting to the CIO, the Director of Information Security serves as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Privacy Officer for Boston Medical Center (BMC). In these roles, primary resource focus includes oversight and integration of the information security and privacy programs to the overall BMC strategic plan and compliance initiatives.
