The objective of this project was the substantial enhancement of the cold storage facility, achieved through the construction of a new compartment and the retrofitting of existing mechanical rooms. My role as a Maintenance Engineer encompassed a multifaceted approach, wherein I oversaw both the civil engineering and construction aspects of the project. The facility initially comprised two compartments, with one dormant for several years. Each compartment had a capacity of 23,000 bags, each weighing 110 pounds, and through strategic construction interventions, the total capacity was augmented to an impressive 46,000 bags.I collaborated closely with the Senior Civil Engineer, Foreman and Technical team, employing brainstorming techniques to grasp the specifications of existing machines and evaluate potential risks while ensuring compliance with civil engineering standards. Rigorous requirement analysis was undertaken, aligning each element with established civil engineering guidelines and construction protocols. During the planning phase, I not only crafted a schedule for the workforce but also delved into civil engineering planning, considering factors such as foundation requirements, structural integrity, and adherence to local construction codes. Cost Estimates were integrated into the overarching Project Budget, thereby establishing the Scope and Cost Baseline with an acute focus on construction parameters.As the project transitioned into the Execution Phase while progress was monitored weekly, addressing challenges promptly. Daily briefings highlighted schedules and areas for improvement, maintaining a vigilant eye on set standards.In the closing phase, comprehensive documentation encompassed the Budget Report, Engineering Drawings, Performance evaluations, and inspection reports. The project's official completion was marked after approval for all deliverables, milestones, from the Project Sponsor.
