20+ years of real estate, marketing, property management, and creative direction, and now I am currently trucking around the country writing, singing, learning, and researching the REALM. “It takes a REALM to build a life that’s really living.” This is clearly a play on the attributed African proverb: It takes a village to raise a child. REALM is a handy dandy acronym for: Real Estate, Ecosystem, Art, Livelihood, Momentum. Think of it as similar to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, but a radiating sun or a full spectrum rainbow rather than a pyramid.REALM means: A person needs to feel at home in one's body in a safe and stable environment (Real Estate), surrounded by cohesive and healthy friends, family, and fellows interconnected with flora and fauna (Ecosystem), to be able to develop their own personal gifts and proclivities (Art), that can be constructively shared with the community around them (Livelihood), to create a flow of mutual contribution and rejuvenation as a community (Momentum).I am learning how many ancestral practices are solutions to our modern problems. I am researching the healing powers of sound and frequency, food forests, and other ways to view our relationship with the land and her inhabitants. I am taking courses on things like Ayurveda and Permaculture. I am piecing this all together into something that can hopefully be useful for my ecosystem.I am just one tree in the forest, one wave in the ocean, one note in the symphony, one worker among workers, one citizen of the planet learning how to build a fulfilling and sustainable life for all.Will you join me?
