Languages have always represented an opportunity to take a step into the unknown for me. By taking that first step, you open the door to new cultures, histories, politics and world views that you can't even fathom otherwise. I have always taken advantage of every opportunity that a new language has offered me: I've read books in their original languages, engaged in political debates with native speakers, and I've basked in different cultures like a moth drawn to a flame.My main aim in life is to teach, translate, write, edit, and publish. In order to do this, I have worked as a Welsh language assistant during my time studying for my A Levels, and I have continued this language enthusiasm throughout my time at university by tutoring with MyTutor. I was incredibly lucky to experience a year abroad in Geneva and Barcelona, and I have learned so much from my time there.I have finished my undergraduate degree at Lancaster University in French, Spanish and Chinese, before obtaining a Master's Degree in Comparative Literature at SOAS, where I started studying Swahili and Japanese. I'm currently a PhD candidate in African Studies at SOAS, specialising in Swahili.
