About Mark Summerton

Mark has an MSc. in Hydrology (Integrated Water Management), studies at the Business School of Netherlands, and numerous short courses including integrating Climate Change in UNICEF’s Planning and Programming. He has more than 20 years of diverse and relevant experience mostly in programme development and implementation to strengthen the integrated approach to water resources management and improve the resilience of vulnerable communities, including improved risk and vulnerability assessments to climate change in particular. This includes assignments from identifying and managing the risks facing water utilities, to developing a water-climate risk and resilience strategy for Africa and leading several climate and water-focused projects in Africa. My most recent experience is in the Middle East with UNICEF to initially develop a Climate Resilient Water Safety Plan, and currently, as a WASH Specialist to lead the water and climate-resilient development aspects of the WASH country programme.
