Responsible for the promotion and expansion of Colorado's first Bachelors of Applied Science (BAS) degree program through strategic planning, partnership development, student placement, and community outreach.

Responsible for program planning and strategic leadership. Engaged western communities in innovative multi-stakeholder planning efforts involving natural resources, smart growth, and climate adaptation. Managed joint program with the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Oversaw development of floodplain management components of Resilient Communities Starter Kit and subsequent workshops.

Organized and implemented programs that addressed current and emerging water issues including climate impacts on water resources, landscape water management, Low-Impact Development, water conservation and re-use, and watershed protection. Coordinated volunteer-driven wetland and riparian restoration monitoring projects in the Phoenix area and expanding the Smartscape training program for landscape professionals. Managed grants, gifts, and contracts, supervised staff and interns, directed student research projects, and ensured implementation of quality programs.

Reviewed development proposals and prepared CEQA documents. Worked with Watershed Protection Program to coordinate county-wide NPDES compliance, conducted public outreach, implemented Healthy Gardens Healthy Home program, co-produced Emmy award winning video.

Long range planning and development review. Coordinated project planning efforts with Bay Environmental Study Team, citizen environmental groups, and developers. Conducted wetland delineation and field verification. Negotiated preservation areas in the West Bay Sector Plan. Managed interdepartmental team to improve floodplain management practices. Liaison to FEMA for Community Rating System (CRS) activities.

Reviewed development plans for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Organized and conducted Planning Commission meetings. Developed Floodplain Management Ordinance. Inspected final projects and issued Certificates of Completion for all projects with water connections. Coordinated efforts with building department and utilities staff.

Coordinated start-up of Sombrero Marsh Environmental Education Center including facility layout, trail construction, curriculum design, and program scheduling. Developed Sombrero Marsh Ecosystem Management Plan and coordinated ongoing restoration efforts with the City of Boulder Open Space and Boulder Valley School District. Responsible for summer educational programs at 3 outdoor science school locations including catalog development, course planning, teacher training, transportation, and safety.

Planned and implemented wetland mapping and wetland/riparian restoration projects. Delineated wetlands......I loved that job, too bad it was seasonal!

Initiated study of diatoms and other single-celled algae as biological indicators of environmental change in the Green Lakes Valley. Collaborated with Niwot Ridge LTER.
