I was responsible to lead the society as the chief elected officer. My role as President was to chair the Executive Steering Group and to maintain an overview of the society's objectives. Here I used my experience in leadership to provide direction to the Society, and worked closely with the Graduate Research School. As the executive committee, we in itiated bi-annual grants providing research opportunities to PhD students to travel and present their research data and findings. Also, with the support of the committee, I organised monthly social events for PhD students, which included barbecues, bowling, travels to Christmas Markets, and the very popular Winter Ball, along with many other events which were very successful and appreciated by all.
