Lovely secondment for three months.I had the opportunity to work on the first delivery plan of the International Women and Girls Strategy; I got to submit final terms of reference for an external challenge board to the strategy and worked with seasoned colleagues in crafting a final list of nominations; and I had the opportunity to interview and propose the first cohort of women and girls trailblazers - a great internal initiative to recognise and showcase teams making major advances in furthering women’s and girls’ rights, empowerment and education, and protection from gender-based violence, harassment and abuse - including in conflict settings. Three months were too little to finalise this… my one regret.

Part of the fun is managing a small band of correspondents across Latin America and Africa. We also work with collaborators in the Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe, as well as freelancers to provide good quality stories, pictures and multimedia elements for fundraising purposes.Every year we take on an international campaign to raise awareness for SOS Children's Villages International, and part of my role as global campaign manager is ensuring campaign participants meet deadlines, give input, that we close feedback loops, and that most member associations in the federation join the campaign.Sometimes I edit too and sometimes I focus on editorial messaging. Mostly, I keep an eye on building strong networks within our organisation in order to ensure faster, better, more content.I was interim Global Editor for four months - from 1 November 2016 to 28 February 2017 - before taking on the role permanently.
