I graduated from UAB in Biological Sciences and a minor in Business, where I focused on research in patient surgical experiences, cancellations, and the key factors behind failed surgeries due to inadequate care. This research fueled my passion for improving surgical outcomes and patient care. After several years in research, I attended medical school for three years. During this time, I realized that I could serve a larger population through a different approach by leveraging emerging technologies in healthcare.My interest in the intersection of healthcare and technology led me to explore machine learning, AI, and data science. As I dove deeper into the growing role of machine learning and AI in healthcare, I recognized their potential to transform patient care and operational efficiency. My passion led me to study data science intensively, focusing on how predictive analytics, natural language processing, and AI-driven decision support systems could improve healthcare outcomes. I’m currently completing a Master’s in Data Science, where I specialize in developing data-driven models to enhance patient care, minimize surgical risks, and streamline hospital operations. My goal is to combine my deep understanding of healthcare with the power of machine learning and AI to tackle persistent challenges in the medical field.My journey into data science aligned perfectly with my involvement in two startups I joined and helped found in June 2024: Periop Ortho and SECOPP. At Periop Ortho, I’m working to integrate AI and data-driven solutions into pre- and post-surgical care to reduce cancellations and enhance recovery outcomes. We leverage machine learning to create personalized care plans, ensuring that patients are well-prepared before surgery and receive the right follow-up care afterward.With SECOPP, I am helping to build a secure telemedicine platform that streamlines remote care delivery, making it easier for healthcare providers to interact with patients while optimizing care management through advanced data analytics. These ventures align with my goal of using technology to address inefficiencies in the healthcare system, ultimately improving patient outcomes and accessibility.
