Current• Direct and lead all legal aspects of acquiring (through lease, asset, and stock purchase) and making operational retail stores, offices, data centers, manufacturing, and renewable energy projects, including utility scale solar projects. Structure and negotiate deals, draft transaction documents, orchestrate due diligence (title, environmental, and land use), and pursue land use and zoning approvals. • Extensive experience with design, development, construction, and procurement matters, including, structuring cross-border contracts, intellectual property ownership and licensing issues, and risk and liability allocations.• Resolve disputes with lessors, contractors, and suppliers, including participating in mediations and overseeing litigation.• Manage a team of eight and outside counsel in the US and internationally. Played an integral role in building the Real Estate Law team and creating a team environment that fosters Apple’s values.• Develop best practices forms for real estate and procurement matters such as letters of intent, leases, construction contracts, architect agreements, consultant agreements, and equipment/goods purchase agreements.• As a member of the Law Department’s Technology Team, worked on the implementation of an e-billing, matter management, and contract lifecycle management system for the department, and continue to guide new initiatives such as Information Governance.• Ideated and developed Real Estate Law team’s document management system and trained team members in the use of collaboration tools.
