I am anatomist with a long term research interest in cardiomyocyte adhesion, gap junction function, and their role in the outcome of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy. In addition, an experienced Post doctoral Fellow with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital & health care set up, focusing on inflammatory bowel disease (more than 10 years).During these years of my research career I acquired the skills to work with mouse intestinal tissues from duodenum to colon. Specialized in isolating intestinal epithelial cells/tissues and performing gene expression studies using Western blots, qPCRs and immunohistochemistry. In addition to the above, worked with human biopsies of inflammatory bowel disease patients and was successful in publishing manuscripts in several international journals. Highly skilled in Protein Chemistry, Cell Culture, Cell biology, Colitis mouse model, Immunohistochemistry, Confocal Microscopy and Fluorescence Microscopy.I was the main player involved in successfully showing for the first time that PDZK1/NHERF3, a scaffolding protein, involved in regulating the ion transporter proteins like NHE3, CFTR and SlC26A3 which play a significant role in the outcome of diarrhea in IBD patients, is strongly downregulated in the inflamed intestine (Yeruva et al., Pflugers arcive 2015, Luo et al., Frontiers physiology 2017).
