Social Impact Through MOHAN Foundation (www.mohanfoundation.org)MOHAN has done pioneering work in the field of deceased donation transplantation programme in India. Almost 70% of all deceased donor Transplants over the last 12 years are due to the efforts of the counselors of MOHAN Foundation or by the ones who were trained by the Foundation. This effort has given a new lease of life to over 5000 organ failure patients through transplantation of organs and tissues such as Heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, heart valves, corneas, intestine and pancreas recipients patients.MOHAN Foundation in the last 19 years has so far sensitized and reached out to over 30 million people about deceased donation programme through their various programmes, press releases, ad spot films on television, through website, its Newsletter and publications, advocacy groups and through distribution of organ donor cards. It helped in establishing an Indian Organ Transplant Registry (www.transplantindia.com) under Indian Society of Organ Transplantation. This has helped in compiling all data on kidney transplants done in India and their outcome. The registry is first of its kind in Asia. Its quarterly Newsletter called 'Indian Transplant Newletter' is in its 18th year of publication and has the latest information on the transplant happenings in India.

I resigned to take up part time work at Madras Medcial Mission Hospital and devote more time ot MOHAN Foundation and Medindia. I was running clinical and surgical services of the department, train post graduates and allied healthcare staff in Urology and transplant field for 20 years.Some achievement in the field of Urology included -1. Trained 18 Urologist and 40 Allied Healthcare Specialist and innumerable nurses over the years.2. Performed over 25,000 Urology Surgeries successfully over the years. Also performed over 650 kidney transplantation both living and deceased donation transplantations. Almost 50% of the surgeries performed were free or heavily subsidized. 3. First Indian surgeon to perform a successful kidney transplantation on HIV positive patient 4. First Indian Surgeon to perform a successful cadaver donation transplantation from snake bite death victim
