I believe that simple solutions are the best solutions. I enjoy researching to solve problems. I appreciate the perspectives of others; although I am an independent thinker unafraid to have difficult conversations to improve the outcome. I endeavor to reduce diversity bias in education and in the workplace by actively supporting and participating in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) initiatives. I am an accomplished business and financial professional with over 25 years of experience in multi-national, public, and private company engagements. As a senior leader, I have deep, hands-on expertise in audit, quality control, training, inclusion, strategic planning, and development. I have successfully led teams of experienced professionals on various audit teams. Currently, I am the Brown Professor of Professional Practice in Accounting at Trinity University in San Antonio. I provide effective practice-oriented instruction primarily focusing on Financial Accounting topics. I designed two Studies in Accounting courses for those wishing to continue the study of accounting beyond regularly offered courses with a focus on emerging accounting and financial reporting topics (e.g., Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Digital Assets, Fraud and SEC matters). While at Trinity University, I conceptualized the Propelling our Profession (PoP) Program for the Neidorff School of Business (NSB), a mentoring program for underserved undergraduate accounting students who are studying to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In June 2023, I was appointed the Director of the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) Program at Trinity University. The Director of the MSA Program is central to the success of Trinity University’s NSB MSA Program. I am the administrative supervisor and coordinator of the MSA Program, overseeing all components of MSA Program education and promoting academic quality and integrity.
