Having completed 8 'O' levels with a 1st Class before my 14th b’day, I went on to do my 'A' levels.Did 6 'A' levels, all with distinction by the time I was 16.Dad being an Airline Pilot, I pursued my dream career, an Airline Pilot!Started training for my CPL in Canada at the tender age of 16, when most boys are still in high school.Finished my CPL requirments well before my 17th bday.Went back to Canada on my 17th b'day to recieve my CPL where I was told that the Ministry(MOT), had awarded me the "Best Commercial Pilot of the Year" award in all Canada. The presentation was made by E.Trudeau who was the then PM of Canada! All this with the frills and fuss that are an accompaniment to a one hour BBC coverage.Got back to Mumbai where I couldn't officially drive a car but could fly an aircraft !!Then I joined up as an F/O on the 737 with Indian Airlines at the tender age of 18. The youngest age at which one could do Airline Flying anywhere in the world at that point in time. Once released to fly as F/O, I pursued my further studies to get my Graduation in Sciences.Went on to get my Command on the 737-200 at 23. And thereafter it was life as an Instructor & Mentor for me on almost all aircraft I flew.In 2004 with Air India I was tasked with the prestegious project of starting up a new subsidiary, Air India Express with brand new B737-800’s. Almost single handedly, I chose a core group of pilots with various backgrounds, to head my various departments. And together we started up the now thriving Air India Express.I Instructed on the Sims, Instructed on Line, attended Office to Admin matters, did regular Line flying, attended Crucial safety/operational Seminars AND conducted critical Accident/Incident Investigations; ALL in the course of one working day!Subsequently I joined SIA in 2008 as Captain / LIP on B777. Was CRM facilitator for 2 years and initiator of the FRMS pilot reporting module and programme. Continued with Qatar Airways on the B777 in Doha. Am currently flying as IP on the B777(all variants) and the B787(all), with SV, well past my 37th year in commercial aviation.Presently 24,500+ hrs on all jets with 19,000+ hrs PIC on 8 different aircraft types.
