Growing up, watching films was a family experience for Sunny Sharma. Little did he know that after engaging in the fields of science and of management, he would be captivated by the dramatic arts and change direction to study the craft of filmmaking at Whistling Woods International, Mumbai. At film school, he had the opportunity to watch Indian and World Cinema from a different point of view and study the different facets of filmmaking. He majored in direction specialization and made Manorath (2014), which was his graduating film. Written and directed by him, the short film won the Best Screenplay Award at the Pune International Film Festival and was longlisted at the Student Academy Awards. Over the years, his short films have won multiple awards and have been screened at more than 20 prestigious national and international film festivals.Ever since, Sunny has directed many commercials and music videos. His body of work includes brands such as ICICI, Hiranandani, Shaadi.com and Sony Music to name a few. Shaadi.com's #NotForSale ad campaign was widely appreciated and talked about on many platforms such as afaqs, adageindia, Vagabomb, Campaign India, Mad Over Marketing and BuzzFeed India.Sunny’s love for direction was born out of his admiration of art forms like photography, poetry, painting and music. He believes that through films one can get introduced to various art forms, cultures, and experience life in its true sense. He is meticulous and passionate about filmmaking. He loves to work on every minute detail to make every film entertaining and thought provoking. His endeavour is to use the cinematic medium to contribute to humanity in order to create powerful impact and bring productive changes.
