I created the first Pearl Stringing course for Holts Academy in 2007. A multi-ability class morphed over time into two levels, beginner and intermediate/advanced, with projects devised to maximise learning at each level. Small group size created a friendly environment, and allowed each pupil plenty of tutor-time, and all students were encouraged to develop in their own particular style.

East Greenwich

The Sunshine Playgroup was an under-5s "stay-and-play" baby and toddler group based at the East Greenwich Forum community centre. I set up this group with a friend when our babies were small, and we were looking for financially accessible things to do with our babies, that would also allow us to meet other local parents and carers. We applied for National Lottery funding for play equipment, and negotiated a discounted rate of room rent, to allow us to charge just £1 per family for the weekly two-hour session. The group was overseen by volunteers from the parents and carers who were regular users. I passed the organisation to a friend when my youngest went full-time at school in 2005. The group ran until March 2017, when no-one could be found to take on the running of it.

Responsibilities included setting up the showroom for viewing days, ensuring that high-value items were secure at all times. Showcasing the items during pre-sale viewing, and during the auction itself. Ensuring that all lots were safely conveyed to the purchaser, or returned unsold, in received condition.
