Artist making live performance, often through collaborative work with people and place.Most recent work: Common Salt with artist Sheila Ghelani.Common Salt is a performance around a table – a ‘show and tell’. It explores the colonial, geographical and natural history of England and India taking an expansive and emotional time-travel, from the first Enclosure Act and the start of the East India Company in the 1600s, to 21st century narratives of trade, empire and culture. Arts Council funded, Common Salt has toured nationally since 2018 to museums, libraries and arts venues including Royal Museums Greenwich, Museum of London Docklands, Glasgow's Hunterian, Lancaster, Manchester, Bristol, Reading. In 2024 the work will show in Bath, Birmingham, Norwich and Reading.New work in development through 2024: Atmospheric Forces with Sheila Ghelani.Initiating and producing both individual and collaborative projects, I draw on 40 years of professional experience as an artist, producer and project manager. Commissions include: Gob Squad (Berlin), Battersea Arts Centre London, You & Your Work Bristol, Earth Festival 2012, The National Trust, ANTI Festival Finland, Somerset Art Works, Ashden Directory, B-side multimedia festival, PVA Medialab, Bridport Arts Centre, Aune Head Arts, Dorset AONB, and Somerset Wildlife Trust.Based in Frome Somerset, I’ve worked on projects across the UK, particularly in the South West region and internationally including Georgia and Finland. In 2016 I was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Fellowship to research social arts practice and participation in public green space in Berlin DE, Portland US and Vancouver CA.
