Research FellowUniversity Of Southampton Mar 2005 - May 2005Southampton, United Kingdom• Worked in Prof. Tom Brown’s group synthesizing novel fluorescence-based real-time PCR method for the identification of mutations and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the human genome. • • Synthesised derivatives of triazacyclononane-containing monomers and their Ni complexes to provide the platform for a range of technologies for enabling the reversible and specific attachment of proteins to synthetic oligonucleotides using His-tag technique. • Also worked on the synthesis of a novel long-wavelength fluorescence quencher based on the 1-((3-hydroxypropyl)amino)-4-hydroxy-anthraquinone HAQ chromophore as an alternative to radiolabels in DNA probes and primers. These probes are also suitable for use in techniques that include amplification of the target DNA. -
