I have a dream....We kunnen onze wereld binnen 10 jaar transformeren van lineair naar circulair.

Now it's time for them to transform the 70's leaky brick structure into a fully sustainable living community house for 30+ people. Three new houses will be added to the one story neighborhood center, central staircases are used for passive ventilation, zoning is used to minimize heating demand. Smart curtains will help sourcing solar gain. The reduced heat needed to warm the place is generated with heat pumps from the earth and regenerated in summer. The program is diverse; two share-houses for 10, units for families and singles, a workspace, social space and kitchen for the neighborhood. The existing structure will be fully reused, all added materials are reused or biobased. The roofs and gardens source rainwater and will be used to grow a diversity of food. Washing machines, cars, tools and a bath-house will be shared. Like this a sustainable life style is supported by the architecture. Zayaz housing corporation is giving a lot of responsibility to the group and supports this novel process. Show less -

Bridge DesignerAalborg Kommune Jan 2019 - Jan 2022AalborgThe design of a footbridge made from two wasted windturbine blades. The bridge will span 25 meters and contain two dressing rooms. The base of the design are two discarded windblades that were use by Siemens as test objects. We will add only a foundation of recycled concrete and recycled pastic for the dressingrooms interior. The bridge will not use electricity for lighting, instead the path will be phosporescent so people can still see the stars and we do not contribute to light pollution. -

The original structure has never been altered, and the second floor was never completed and has never been used. Now, after ten years standing vacant, this massive stone structure will start its third life. The intention of the new owners is to transform the building into a circular, zero energy holiday house for family and friends. Structure and original interiors will be kept intact and improvements will be made with waste materials from the nearby (design) industries of Milano and Como according to the SUPERUSE methods and platforms. The rough second floor will be finished in a contemporary style creating a contrast with the classic 1920's style of the house. Where needed these new elements and materials will trickle down to the lower classic floors. The ambition is also to develop strategies that use the thick stone walled thermal mass and structural core of the house to optimise the building's climate during the mediterranean summer heat and winter cold that comes off the neighbouring Swiss alps. To accomplish this, the natural daily and seasonal wind currents and the height of the building will be used to passively ventilate and climatise the house. Any necessary additions will be done with waste or natural materials.A terrace/pool-house and swimming pool are to be constructed in the garden with locally harvested waste materials. Sourcing energy with solar panels that double in function as shading device for the terrace, and constructing a natural swimming pool that might double in function as heat storage are other integrated solutions that might be adopted in the garden area. They will start the semester investigating and mapping waste streams of Aarhus, and exploring selected waste materials for their design and construction potential. They will also investigate other wasted or under utilized resources such as people, food, knowledge, skills at the study site and surrounding area and look for ways to redirect and use these in their design. The students are then to design sections of the site on their own or in small groups. Each of these designs is to have a mutually beneficial connection and interdependency with an existing function/actor/company in Arhus and, at least one with another group’s design. In this way they are to transform the buildings and program of the study site to create a more resilient, interconnected, integrated urban environment; recyclicity Arhus can start here. We hope it will give food for thought for Rethink Arhus 2017. Show less -
